Music Publisher Breitkopf & Härtel and Clara Schumann.
When Clara Schumann was born on September 13, 1819, the music publisher Breitkopf & Härtel was already a successful company. Founded in Leipzig on January 27, 1719, Breitkopf & Härtel worked together with almost all renowned composers of the 18th and 19th centuries - including Clara Schumann. As one of the outstanding musicians of the 19th century, she was not only known as a piano virtuoso and composer, but also took care of the publishing of her and Robert Schumann's works. This Leipzig network around the celebrated anniversary member Clara Schumann (200th birthday), the publisher Breitkopf & Härtel (300th anniversary) and other protagonists from the then international music scene is the subject of the exhibition.
