Datum:
Bookbinding workshop with Friederike Dolinschek: Fiber, Fold and Flyleaf 11.07.2026
12:00 p.m. - 16:00 p.m.
A hands on introduction to bookbinding – ideal for beginners and newcomers. You will hear about the properties of paper and learn basic techniques of folding, stitching and book construction, right through to adhesive-free bindings suitable for everyday use.
The course focuses particularly on techniques that will remain useful after the course has finished, without the need for large machines or a workshop: for making your own notebooks, photo albums or gifts.
The course covers saddle stitch, coptic binding and a Japanese stab binding technique.
Friederike Dolinschek was born in Berlin in 1996 and studied in the Book Arts Department of the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle, graduating as a Meisterschülerin in 2024. Since then, she has been designing books and objects made of paper: in her work, wax meets advertising, poetry and pocket knives interlock like the finest mechanisms. Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches at schools and public institutions. She lives and works in Leipzig.
